This place is excellent! Plan to spend a few hours here. It's not just one museum but a complex with multiple museums. $5 got us in to 5 museums and an art gallery. Be sure to watch the 15 minute transportation movie before you move on to the Old Town, Elk City Museum, the Farm & Ranch Museum, and the Blacksmith. Great exhibits and friendly staff.

A museum with many buildings to roam in and learn from. The Route 66 museum is very interactive and fun for adults and kids alike. Sit in a Cadillac and steer to a movie of the road. Slide down a fireman pole, and watch drive-in movie Trailers for The Blob, and Creature of the Black Lagoon. Sit in a diner booth and listen to comments about Elvis, the Ed Sullivan Show, and Steve McQueen in The Blob. A very worthwhile experience!

An absolute must do stop on Historic route 66!
Although, this is the National Route 66 Museum, there are actually three museums located here. The facility grounds are perfectly groomed and the buildings, some new and some, restored are beautiful. The 66 museum is laid out to give you an end-to-end perspective of the road and has nice displays of artifacts and historical representations. The other museums, Old Town and the Farm and Ranch are also well worth your time. I would say plan on a minimum of one hour, but you could easily spend a couple of hours here. Elk City is a really nice town ad they have put a very noticeable effort in making this a first class tourist attraction.

It was a fun place to go. Looking at the past and what they used and had and did in that Era. Loved the info they gave, and also, you pay to get in, but it also gets you in the old Village Museum. I know there are different 66 Museums in different states. I'm sure each has its own items I would love to see them all. We went on a Monday. Very windy and cold.

There is a lot going on here... Not so much just a transportation museum but much much more! Takes less than two hours to walk the grounds and see the many many items they have. I think if you don't see it here you may not see it anywhere. Staff was very nice and helpful.

An extensive and interesting museum full of Route 66 history and artefacts. The staff are lovely and there’s so much to see. You can walk around all the old buildings and go inside some of them, including an old two story house and a huge barn.

This museum was a delightful surprise, Much more here than you'd think, Route 66 is the draw but there's so much other history here. The layout was clever as well. And don't miss the farm implement museum, it's very interesting too.

This is a nice historic stop on Route 66. It has unique museum shops with facades. You can take the 1 hour guided tour (5 dollars for adults/4 dollars for children, or self guided outdoor tour for free.
