Truly a wonderful, magical place! We were greeted by Lizzie and Mr. Darcy, the precious shop dogs, quickly followed by one of the owners. He was incredibly kind and welcoming. My husband and I browsed for a bit, had lovely conversations with both owners, were told about all of the wonderful community events they offer and left with two bags full of goodies and smiles on our faces!
Absolutely worth the drive from OKC, and we will most certainly be back again and again!

The best bookstore I have been to In a long time. They have the cutest dogs that you can pet while picking out your favorite book. They have great sections and keep all the new releases that you could ever want. 10/10 would like to go there every day.

We were so excited when we heard our small town was getting a new book store! Our homeschool book club found a new home and my children love the story times and Teen Book Club. I love the Silent Book Club, such a fun night with other bookworms! They have their own summer reading challenge which we have all loved participating in. They have so many book clubs for all interests and a great variety of books and unique products to browse in the store and are always willing to order anything you can't find. The owners have been so kind and welcoming to us all! And the four legged Mr. Darcy makes every visit even more joyful. 😊

Absolutely LOVE A Novel Idea Bookshop. It's super cute, the staff is so helpful, and the owner is such a delight. But my favorite thing about this wonderful bookstore is how inclusive they are! They offer something for everyone and are welcoming of all people.

My absolute favorite indie bookstore. The owners, Chelsea and Rod, are some of the kindest people I have ever met. There are two coffee shops across the street and I love grabbing my favorite drink and reading on their big comfy couch. Guthrie is so lucky to have this safe space for all. Added bonus: snuggles and love from Mr. Darcy the basset hound!

A cozy, local bookshop in the heart of historic downtown Guthrie. They offer books for everyone, including a great LGBTQIA+ section and books by minority authors. The owners are kind and welcoming and the seating area is SO COMFY. If they don't have the title you're looking for, they can special order it for you--and they also just started online orders through their website!
They also offer stickers, cards, bookmarks, etc. It's a place where humans rights are respected and diversity is celebrated.
They also have the most adorable Bassett hound who you may meet, if you visit.

I live an hour away but enjoy every trip to A Novel Idea Bookstore. They have a large book collection and never fail in helping you find what you need. Family owned, knowledgeable, friendly, and super engaging. Best of all, you’ll likely get to meet their 3 dogs, including their basset hounds, Elizabeth and Mr. Darcy. Whether you’re local or just visiting Guthrie, add A Novel Idea Bookstore to your list of favorite places and don’t forget to check out their calendar of events and classes.

My favorite indie bookstore in the heart of Historic Guthrie OK. The owners are incredibly kind humans who work hard to put literacy first and do incredible things for their community. Lately they’ve been under attack by competitors looking to undermine their work and their values because bigotry runs rampant in the state.

The shop dog is the coolest. The book clubs slap! The banned book list makes Ryan Walters quake in his tiny shoes.

They are all about elevating local authors and they utilize radical empathy. We could use more local companies with this mindset.

And if they don’t have what you’re looking for they are open to finding you an indie shop that provides your desired book so that you can continue supporting small business.

Competition happens at the bottom, but collaboration happens at the top and I hope A Novel Idea thrives for years to come.
