I arrived in the parking lot, my first time here. I gathered my donation, a stack of books. A gentleman with an apron on, working out of a big box truck had a smile and I said "do I give these to you?" He said "no go put them up front". I get to the front door...there is a large wire bin to my left filled with kitchen garbage bags, looks like a donation bin to me. I set my donation books on the top. I open the glass door to go in to look around and I'm met immediately by a woman behind the counter, shaking her finger at me! and in a scolding voice telling me "that is not where you leave donations". I have one foot in the door...I am a 62 year old DV survivor being shamed by this random woman. Flustered I grab the books, set them on the counter in front of her...tell her "you are welcome for this donation, and that is not a very nice way to greet people". She is smirking at me the whole time. I walk away to enter the shop further to look around, and decide to turn around and leave. Why would I shop and encourage this behavior.
Do better. Know your audience.

The thrift store is perfect for shoppers looking to buy slightly-used items like baby clothes, furniture, sporting equipment, and a whole lot more.
The Thrift Store collects items on most days, but it's preferred that you call ahead and check on their schedule.
The Thrift store is located on the corner of 8th Street and Avenue A.

After years of volunteering, I have not found a better cause to dedicate my time too. The high quality management has been nothing but kind and caring to all volunteers and customers who enter the shop. Always the best prices in town for any thrift shoppe with a great message behind it of supporting domestic violence awareness. Managers Allie and Lisa are the reason I joined and have stayed here and wish to stay for more time to come.

I just called and had a very delightful and helpful conversation with one of the associates. I am downsizing my house drastically and do not have a way to drop off my large, used furniture. They do a pick up service which suits my needs to perfectly! I was looking for a consignment shop in town and the lady I spoke with (I believe her name is Ellie) was so kind and informative in helping me find the solutions I'm looking for. I am going to do my best do get rid of my stuff locally but am so happy to find such a good cause to donate the rest to!

This should be the first and foremost number 1 pick of thrift stores in Yuma, if only because Amberly's Place's proceeds provide support and help to victims of domestic, child and elder abuse.
-The thrift store is decent; little treasures abound if you're willing to look. A small compact store filled with useful odds and ends.
-A lot of the donations go directly to victims in need.
-Donations can be left by the front entrance. They have a small truck used to pick up furniture donations.
-An added plus for book lovers is the little used book exchange spot outside; you can take books or leave them.

Overall, it's a good store with a good mission, for a good cause. Please consider it.
