I've always loved going here and checking out what they've got in stock. They have a lot of good equipment, some of which I can admit is overpriced, but still good quality. The staff are shockingly very knowledgeable, which I haven't been able to say about other surpluses. This place has an amazing selection of practical modern weaponry and also has the best selection of surplus and vintage firearms. For very cheap prices, too! They even had an authentic ww2 era Czech VZ.24 Mauser bolt action rifle (which was the rifle my great grandfather took to war during operation barbarosa in 41) all for the low price of $450, whereas some places charge thousands for authentic ww2 mausers.
Anyways, great store, great products, great staff. I've never had a bad visit. Easy 5 stars.

My mother purchased a Ruger SP101 “with trigger kit” on consignment from Chris Baumann who said he installed it himself and gave his personal endorsement of a job properly done. However, within 1 week of ownership, not even fired once yet, two washers literally popped out (see photograph below)

The issues are:
1. questionable safety and
2. not getting what the customer paid for as promised: a safe, ready and functional working firearm as advertised / personally reassured regardless of prior ownership or return policy.

When we returned to the store to ask for a refund due to the firearm literally falling apart, (it was apparent that the firearm was not properly inspected and tested nor was the trigger kit installed correctly) Chris was not reasonable considering the gun was not in safe working order. He denied any safety risk due to washers falling out…. Maybe so, however, with his reactionary behavior in the store, it raises other suspicions for an unassuming customer.

Semantics of the dialog / diatribe upon attempting to return the firearm:

Aloha surplus “We don’t do refunds on non-working equipment” (where was the customer supposed to test a firearm before purchase? You gave your personal endorsement and now it means nothing?”
Aloha Surplus “We are happy to look at it again”
Customer: “thought you already tested and inspected your own work prior to consignment resale? I feel like you should at least test and inspect for safety PRIOR to resale, I feel like a refund is in order since the gun is not in working order as paid for, as advertised and promised right out of the box.”
Aloha Surplus “The gun still works regardless of current state, I’m sorry you feel that way”
Customer: “that’s a non apology- unacceptable.”
Aloha Surplus “It’s not your gun anyway”
Customer: “it shouldn’t matter who’s gun it is, so you like taking advantage of little old ladies? Thanks for the disclosure, you should put that on your return policy. See you in court “

If you “already inspected and tested it”, and it failed upon delivery why would any customer have any confidence in your rework or final inspection ability? Or anything you say after that? Try to put yourself in your customers shoes and respond accordingly.

It’s really too bad, After Chris gave his initial personal endorsement of this specific gun from another customer on consignment, I encouraged my mother to purchase it not knowing that they can’t be held accountable for the operating condition of their merchandise and that “I’m sorry you feel that way” is their service policy.

Not truly being honorable and ethical, certainly more interested in arguing semantics about feelings and whose gun it isn’t….., reacting poorly to paying customer request and reasonable expectation /ownership of justice on behalf of business owner and customer satisfaction. pffft!

wow.

Thanks for telling me all I need to know Chris.

Photo shows two washers, shims

We'll be obtaining an expert opinion after having a legitimate inspection done by a qualified resource.

Can’t say I’d recommend an old church selling firearms…, what was I thinking!!

Regardless of their no exceptions return policy, they apparently have a customer service policy of
1. Gaslight
2. Defend
3. Deflect
4. Dismiss
5. Rinse Repeat
Thank you for the lesson Aloha Surplus.

Also note that they took a perfectly good, like new and fairly new firearm in on partial trade to unload their questionable “rework” by an unqualified self proclaimed “certified gunsmith”. LoL!! I don’t waste time with liars. See report at BBB.

As with most surplus stores there is gonna be a mark up... But the selection here has genuine surplus so that's a plus. The staff is attentive and engaging.

Went in with my gremlin to get a jumpsuit for his ideal costume and I was more than surprised.

Help was offered immediately, prices were higher than expected on certain items, but not more than should be asked. Luckily we had our eye on something negotiable.

As a former kid who spent hours in similar shops- I personally would never step foot in a store like this for myself- it's just not my vibe and I have (probably unfair) ideas about who might run such a store... But I was met with kindness and flexibility and help. I'm honestly so gratefully surprised. My kiddo had a blast and found exactly what he wanted.

Prices ranged from cheap AF to the upper end of what you might expect, but the selection was great. Large, disparate demographic in the store while I was there. They made everyone feel comfortable and helped as far as I could tell. Probably the best scenario I could have ever imagined. And my kiddo now has a costume/random wear piece that is quality and authentic vs a lot of online retailers offerings.

This store is one of the reasons I love living in this area. Niche and really good at it. Very worth the visit if you're interested in such offerings.

A fun store for most, maybe even a little PTSD for those of us who have been in the military. I noted that the prices are a bit high (IMO) for just about everything I looked at, and yet if you want it now, maybe they are acceptable. I did enjoy looking at everything. Even the smell on the military canvas, etc, was fun to relive. They also have an attentive staff.
So it appears that this store closed during the pandemic and has not reopened, as far as I know. Been down there a few months back, and it's no joy on the subject.
I went back a few months ago, and Aloha Surplus is open again! They are selling guns too. They even had some Night Vision. Once again, I enjoyed looking, and even bought a few small things, however IMO, the prices were a bit high. Still, I'll shop there again.

Excellent Military Surplus store with a large variety of gear, equipment, and clothing items from many different eras. A emergency preppers dream storm. An excellent place to purchase many different things to build high quality bug out bags, emergency kits for vehicle and homes, hiking and camping gear, or survival kits for the homeless.

This was a great experience. The staff are extremely knowledgeable and experienced with military items. They have completed field packs from the last 100 years. Great quality military regulation issued equipment. Will be visiting again soon.
