This is the best place. They are slow. There is a shortage of willing workers in this town, on top of a pharmaceutical shortage, and a current bad flu year.
Despite all that they maintain friendly attitudes and get the job done. Their products are usually not much more than Safeway or rite aid, considering what Im guessing is pretty high cost real estate downtown that is incredible.
Plan accordingly, and you won’t be disappointed. If you are impatient go be rude somewhere else. These people are some of the most patient and empathetic people I have dealt with since moving here 5 years ago. I'm particularly impressed to see how young most of them are, but they still handle the workload and snobby impatient people like professionals. They should be training half this town in how to provide service. I was pretty good as a kid manager, but these kids would have ran circles around me.

I went to Ashland drug for the first time with my elderly aunt. They were fast and friendly. But, moreover, they were very patient and explaining her medication‘s to her. Even going to the point where they wrote in marker on the bottles so she would know what time to take each of them. Going over very carefully to help her to understand that she needed to eat with some of her medications. They were very patient as she went through a list of things that she could eat before she took her medication’s to make sure that they were OK. I really appreciated the extra time they took with her.

So grateful for our local and home-grown businesses. There may be faster options, but you’ll never find a more courteous one. At Ashland Drug you are treated like a real human being, which is nice when everything goes right but can be critical when reality proves more complex - which seems always the case with medicine these days. They have all the ancillary bars and cushions and supports you might expect, but also the local shirts and treats and toys and wrapping paper that a true local institution cultivates over time. Ashland Drug is precisely the kind of shop that all small towns used to have and are becoming increasingly pushed out by larger corporations. If you’re unhappy with your treatment somewhere else, this is exactly what you are looking for!

They hang up on me more than they pick up the phone, the almost never have anything in stock, and their customer service is okay *at best*. Very frustrating experience every time I go in, so I try not to make it often, but it's one of the only pharmacies in Ashland. 🙁
