Keep in mind that on their website they now allow up to 90 days for returns / exchanges to be processed Read my experience below of when their return use to be 30 days.

This company has gone downhill since I initially purchased products from them. As you will also see from other google reviews, this company removes negative reviews on their website. Terrible customer service that hopes you will forget about your return so they do not have to refund you. I purchased a pair of board shorts in August that were too small so I returned them. They arrived at the facility by the end of August well within the return window. I waited 8 working days (keep in mind their advertised customer service hours are Monday - Thursday) before asking about the status of my refund. I got a response from their customer service reps saying to allow up to 30 days for my return to be processed. 30 days is an absurd wait time to process a return for a clothing company. To make matters worse, I had to sent another email on the 30th day (keep in mind 30 days only counting 4 days a week) to see the status of my return. Four days later I got a response from their customer service saying they are sorry for the delay and have just then refund my initial payment method. That last encounter proved that they were hoping I would forget about my return just keeping my money or hoping that I would use the credit on my account to buy more clothes from them when I chose that I wanted the refund to my original payment method. Overall they received my return at the end of August and did not refund me until the end of October. I have placed multiple orders with Birdwell over the years, but I can honestly say I will never order from them again. They have strayed from the original owners core values. With their new return policy do not give them the chance to hold your money hostage for up to 90 days.

Lastly, make sure you comb through the products carefully if you want one that is made in the USA. I purchased a couple pairs of pants on a separate order (same model different color) and one was made in the USA while the other was made in Vietnam and I did not realize it until I received the items. I had yet to find a small clothing company that made the same pant model in two different countries. In my opinion that is not a good business practice.

Buyer beware! I bought the Comp Stripe Sweater ($175) and it started pilling within a few hours of wear. They claim "enduring quality" but it is poorly made and they don't stand behind their products. They do not allow returns and they didn't publish my review on the website. Super slimy company.

I am an ocean lifeguard and I’ve always loved how Birdwells keep their red color for long periods of time. I called the office and had Jayme pick up the phone. She was so helpful and amazing. I bought a pair over the phone! When I came to get them, she greeted me out front and 10min later I had my new reds with patch sewn perfectly! They are taking all safety precautions. I felt so stoked to have a fresh pair to represent my department! I am so happy; thank you Santa Ana Birdwell for what you did!

Nice product, horrible customer service. I contacted customer service prior to ordering their product to help determine what size I needed. I gave them my measurements and the representative told me the size. However when I received the shorts they were so tight on me I could barely put them on. When I contacted them to return, no apology for the mistake and I was told I would have to pay the shipping charges to get another pair sent. I posted a review on their website and it never posted. So don't trust their reviews on their site. If you can not purchase in a store, stay away from this company. They are not mobile purchase friendly. Shop one of the other boardshort companies.

Easily one of my favorite shopping experiences! This is not an actual storefront but a small corner of the warehouse where Birdwell make, store and ship their shorts. We came on a Thursday morning and we’re easily able to find parking in their large lot.

There is someone to greet you immediately and show you a sample rack of items (shorts, jackets, shirts, hats, towels and bags). Once you find the items you like you will ask the assistant to grab items in your size. You’ll then be able to try on the items in the bathrooms that all the employees in the warehouse share.

It was very cool to be buying clothes feet away from where it was made and seeing the faces of people who sew, move and ship these items year round. One huge plus is the file drawer with shorts/shirts for half off. Nearly all of the items felt and looked fit for retail and there were some unique samples mixed in.

My brother and I bought a couple of things each and we’re glad we stopped by. Having a dedicated changing room would be a minor improvement but we all enjoyed the stripped down experience and great deals.

Was excited after ordering my first pair of Birdwell Board Shorts & pleased w/ the look & quality after receiving them. Tried them on & although they would “work”, I decided for almost $100, I wanted to size up a size. I contacted customer service about exchanging my purchase & was told I would have to pay the return shipping. Charging your customers return shipping when they just want to exchange your product for a different size is ridiculous! Unfortunately today you lost my business and any future business you would have gotten through me sharing my previous excitement over your product.

In my opinion, that’s simply too bad when you’re talking about a small shipping charge. You may want to re-evaluate your exchange policy.

Bought 2 pairs of shorts recently. Spent $250. Called and asked if I could drop off to have 3 additional drawstring holes inserted so I could tighten shorts when in water....and this "custom handmade" clothing shop will not help me out. I was happy to pay for service. Shorts are fine....just very bummed they could not provide a simple fix for me.
