Wonderful Oklahoma institution that began in 1933 Frankoma Pottery has gone through several owners and now a retired Phillips engineer owns/runs the place. He built a beautiful new manufacturing building and showroom to display their new pottery and 100s of vintage pieces. It's a must see! (That's a "drill bit" mug in the photo for all the energy people.)

I made a side trip just to see Frankoma Pottery company twice on our vacation to and from out west! Visited to add to my collection. Trela and daughter Melissa waited on us both trips and they are delightful, friendly and helpful! Was pleased to meet the owner as well ! I purchased several pieces on both trips, as they had exactly what I wanted! I love this place! Items are organized and displayed well. I saw many pieces I have only seen in books, so it was like visiting a mini Frankoma museum. I plan to return in the Fall. Highly recommend! In addition, near by Salpulpa has a historical museum which also has a nice display of Frankoma and the history of the factories.

Still using some of the old molds and new ones too. Wish they used a handful of custom-mixed glazes instead of so many bright commercial glazes.

Frankly it was a disappointing experience. I was looking inside the store for about 15 minutes before anyone came out to ask if I needed help. Eventually a heavy set woman with glasses came out. However, she seemed to view my presence as an annoyance more than anything and paid more attention to her phone. At one point I was looking at some vases with a "thunderbird" on them. I asked her what was the significance of the Thunderbird and she said " what do you mean?" I was flummoxed by her confusion as it was a pretty straight-forward question. I tried to clarify and she said "it's just some Native American thing." OK lady. You work there but you don't know your own product line? I'm traveling from out of town and went out of my way to come here. It was a mistake.
