Love the things I bought! I can’t wait to come back, but the owner really needs to properly price the items. I couldn’t read the price tags and she jacked up the prices at the register, which I think she does regularly.

good items to be found within the clutter, I felt the prices were a bit high, but not unreasonable.

however, a few days after my purchase I got a text from my hotel saying the owner, Lin, was trying to reach me about a bag I had forgotten (I had told her where I was staying in a passing conversation)

I called and came to find out she had lied about the forgotten bag and just wanted to get me on phone to question me about a vest that had gone missing. I don't know anything about a vest, but the tactic seemed very strange and invasive.

If she's worried about shoplifting i'm sure a better alternative would be to install security cameras instead of creeping on legitimate customers 😵‍💫

2 stars because I like the shoes and jacket!

As someone who normally loves dirty cluttered thrift and antique stores, and has shopped in vintage stores across the country since a young age, this is actually the worst one I have ever been in.
On first impressions as a seasoned secondhand customer, you would probably find the clutter inviting. Then you start to see signs of the owner's... "eccentricities" making themselves known.
The "store" has more of a vibe of being the owner's storage unit, and she's hostile at the idea of parting with anything in her hoard.
Overpriced, which is normal for the area and could be worth the quality of some of the finds. However, what allows similar stores in the area to charge those prices is that they have made a convenient and inviting environment to shop in. The high price of similar stores on the same block pays for the positive experience you have within the store.
Garbo's is simply not worth dealing with the only customer service I have ever found bad enough to prompt actually leaving a negative review.
I would leave 0 stars if I could.

I bought a shirt from here and found the price reasonable I don’t want to shop here anymore on the account that the owner seems like a total condensing and disrespectful person. Look down below to see her replies to see that she can’t take any amount of criticism whether it be on pricing, the clutter in her store or how she handles transactions. She even admitted to wage theft and downplayed by acting like it being years ago makes it any less worse. Never seen a store owner straight up call people names even when they politely wrote grievances. Maybe this is why you have 3 stars and your clothing sits. And if you feel the need to reply back, I will reply back to you.

Coming back 2 years later and had an EVEN MORE Horrible experience, mean lady working claims she knows vintage but is selling 3x what they go for ANYWHERE else. So rude and cannot take any criticism. Garbos is truly living up to its namesake - Garbage.

There are some really cool vintage pieces in this store. The problem is the layers and layers of clothing everywhere. I wanted to see what was underneath some of the layers of clothing hanging on the wall but didn’t want to ask. The person working there seemed busy. We shopped all the vintage stores in Astoria and several surrounding towns and this one was quite a bit more expensive. I imagine the rent on that main street is not cheap. It would be great if the shop were a bit more organized so you can see all the cool pieces in there.

Very cute and organized store, wide range of clothing and shoes, owner seems very nice. But, the prices are INSANE it was $70 for a pair of Levi jeans that are at Bi Mart for $30. Maybe if the prices were more reasonable the place would be less cluttered.

This shop is very small and very cluttered with goods. Most items are not labelled with a price, and the ones that are priced are on par with much better organized and maintained and shoppable stores. I walked in and browsed for a few minutes before becoming overwhelmed. There are definitely authentic antique pieces, but they don't seem to be in excellent condition- most of the mid-century pieces I saw had damage or staining that was immediately evident. The person running the shop did seem available and maybe they know the stock well enough to help you shop- I prefer to browse on my own, especially when I'm not searching for anything specific. Did not seem like a great place for my size either, which ultimately led to me moving on. I might have tried harder if things were sorted by size
