I was coming back into the Hitchcock store in Alachua after going to rest room which is located through the double doors near the cold cuts section when I stood on a piece of wood that had a cut nail protruding out of it. As I was looking left and right so as to not knock into anybody I didn’t see the wood laying on the floor.
The nail went through my shoe but did not cut into the skin. There were two witnesses to the incident, one a customer and the other a Hitchcock employee. Having been in the construction industry for over 20 years I am very aware of the need to get a tetanus shot when something like this occurs. The young man that helped me and who filled out the incident report was very apologetic and offered the names of two locations close by where I could get the shot. I went to the One Stop Medical Center who advised that as they didn’t have authority from Hitchcocks (and I was not given a copy of the incident report for me records) they would have to bill me and I would have to be reimbursed by Hitchcocks for the amount of $50.00.
I had the shot and took the paperwork back to the corporate Office where I encountered the rudest person imaginable. As I was telling her that I needed to lodge a claim with Hitchcock insurance she couldn’t have cared less. She laughed in my face and couldn’t suppress the smirk on her face which made me furious. She said the incident report had already been lodged and nothing could be done. She had no idea nor did she care, how long it would take the insurance company or if they would even cover the cost of the shot. She didn’t offer to take the information from me and clearly saw me as her afternoon amusement. I have been going to Hitchcocks since moving here 3 years ago but will never go there again. They are obviously a big corporate entity which hires dim witted staff who don’t give a hoot about customer service and repeat customers. This young girl treated me as though I was trying to scam Hitchcocks when all I wanted was to be reimbursed the $50.00 I had paid.

Hey y'all!

I was just let go from Hitchcock's because I gave my department manager/store manager Nicholas a list of suggestions for the store. I've never been fired for making suggestions to improve a business before, but times are strange and Florida is a right to work state. Suggestions included: removing expired food from shelves, incentive programs, and fixing broken manual tools to potentially save employee lives.

m on sale. Manager refused to honor sale price for another deli item.

There seems to be a lot of competition in the grocery stores these days you have publics you have Winn-Dixie you have several other chains out there as well Hitchcock seems like in this particular store is the only one in our town but it really seems like they don't care about it the door will even open properly to go in or out it is just sad.

Great customer service manager and district manager did everything they could to make the matter right would always recommend going to the store
