I am beyond furious. You can look at my history of reviews and I have rarely ever left a negative review. I am a business owner myself and love supporting local businesses. We have two BRAND NEW 30lb Flame King tanks that we bought and filled them up twice before but our normal place was out of propane due to hurricane Milton. They worked perfectly fine. We needed them refilled so we came here. My husband brought them home and both tanks will no longer work on our generator. One of them was leaking propane so bad (even though the valve was closed) and we had to put it away from the house. My husband just brought them to Holloway’s today and they tried to tell us they must have a seal or valve issue. It’s obvious that both tanks were overfilled and in a time of crisis, this is not what we need to deal with. How is it possible that they were both completely fine and now both that they filled are ruined. I am now out $200 between the two tanks and the fuel inside them. Don’t ever get your propane tanks filled here bc they will damage your propane tanks and say it must be a tank problem.

I saw on their website that they have egg-laying hens for sale under “Poultry for Sale” (And of course we have a great selection of poultry including: Baby chicks, Pullets, Egg-laying hens, Turkeys, Ducks and also rabbits, pigs and more!) I called to inquire, but the man on the phone informed me they do not sell them and that I shouldn’t buy egg-laying hens because you don’t know how old they are. Respectfully, I understood that already. Everywhere I call I seem to have people thinking I’m wanting to slaughter them, so instead of saying “adult hen” I say “egg laying hen” (advice given by another farmer). I may have misinterpreted the website, but I’ll try to check them out next year and see if it’s seasonal and if they have any then.

DOES NOT STAND BY THEIR PRODUCTS! Bought three hens from Holloway's back in May, 2024, day before Mother's Day. I communicated first by email, and the proprietor asked me to text him after that. I wanted to know when certain shipments of day-old chicks arrived so we could make the hour drive from St. Petersburg up to Holloways to purchase some new hens for our flock. In St. Petersburg, we are allowed to have up to 5 hens and NO roosters. Proprietor assured me by text message and verbally that all chicks were hens. Three weeks later, we noticed that one of our "hens" was twice as big as the other two and growing more rapidly. I texted a picture to Holloway's for their thoughts. Despite being very responsive to text messages when I inquired about buying hens, there was no reply. I then emailed them the same pictures. No reply. A few months later, the one large, fast-growing "hen" was developing arching tail feathers that grew upward and then arced back to pointing downward. This was different then our hens. I again sent pictures by text and email, and asked if there was a way to determine for sure if this "hen" was, in fact, a rooster. Again, no response. I also asked if there was a way to relocate the "hen" to a farm or to Holloways if it was a rooster. No response. Around a week before Halloween (and the end of daylight savings time), the "hen" started to crow before sunrise. It was, in fact, a rooster, which I had suspected since 3 weeks after purchasing the hens from Holloways. Holloways was no help. Now, I imagine it is difficult to sex chicks correctly. We never purchased from a place that made this mistake before (these were not our first hens), but I am open to people making mistakes. What I am not open to is know-it-all proprietors happily taking money from people but then not being able to stand by their products. Perhaps that is the value system in this part of Hillsborough County, but we city slickers honor each other a little better. Note that I didn't ask for any money back, just information about what to do about their mistake. Nothing.But. Silence. Deafening as to what they think about their customers! Avoid if possible.

On February 8th 2025 I went into holloways to purchase some corn the lady was very rude to my grandchildren and myself she does not like her job she should not be there very disrespectful lady

At big box stores you are lucky if an employee can tell you where an aisle is. I came here looking for fox farm soil products and got actual help & know-how from the person working the shop. Helped me address some st. Augustine patchiness and filling in I'm working on. Happy places like this exist.
If you are looking to start a chicken/egg hobby, or need anything general yard & farm I would point you here. Visit some local nurseries that are great too and you are probably set.

Great store! I only buy corn here but there's all sorts of farm supplies here and the folks here are great. I like the small town country feed and seed feel of this spot (hard to find in this area). I like to support local family owned businesses as much as I can.
