We had the most amazing experience renting from IB Rents! We came in a couple of days before Christmas hoping to rent a pair of electric bikes. Even though they were closed on the holiday, they made sure to take care of us and their pick up/drop off process was seamless. We had a great time and biked up to Coronado and back without any issues. Highly recommend for a beach activity as a couple or with family!

I just want to say, jose and IB RENTS thanks, I forgot my helmet at home and I was trying to see if I can rent it for a couple hours I found this place and Jose offered to me a helmet for free, because he said they don’t rent helmets, they saved my trip for Coronado and San Diego, they are such a great people, I highly recommend them. Thank you..

We rented two e-bikes for the afternoon and rode up the strand to Coronado and back. Beautiful views of the South Bay along that route, which is part of the Bayshore Bikeway. Joey helped us get our bikes, which come with helmets, locks and baskets. He was so nice and sweet, it was a painless process! I would recommend, and I plan to rent again from them to check out more of Imperial Beach.

Great service and awesome bikes!!

Contrary to another review, my wife and I rented one beach cruiser and one e-bike. We brought our two year old on the beach cruiser, he was more than safe in a child seat and they had helmets for all.

Imperial Beach is a small beach town whose population supports local business. The expectation is that if we take care of them they’ll take care of us and our families. The safety of any person in our community is paramount and I witnessed IB Rents encourage the rental and use of a bike that placed an infant in danger.

The parents of the infant were embarrassed and very open to education surrounding the improper and unsafe use of a rear mounted seat and were immediately grateful for the information.

What’s alarming is that they reported that IB Rents not only said it was okay but encouraged them to rent and ride with the infant in the back. Not to mention there was no helmet either.

Professional knowledge of the equipment, restrictions with age and overall safety should be a priority. I would expect nothing but expertise when owning such an establishment. Not haphazard recommendations.

To add, the Owner and his son the Co-Owner were not receptive to this criticism and deflected any responsibility for not providing expert advisement and also for simply allowing the rental period.

Fingers crossed they get themselves educated or have a good liability waiver! Rent elsewhere for sure.

Staff was super friendly and helpful and also chill. Great selection of bikes to choose from. We went with the electric bikes and they were easy and safe to use. They did a great job walking us thru everything. Will definitely come back to IB when we are in the area next.
