DO NOT use this company for ferry car service!!!

My husband and I had an extremely disappointing experience with this company. Due to the ferry reaching its max capacity of cars on the day we needed to leave, we had to put our car on the ferry from Juneau to Haines a little over a week before my husband and I arrived. This meant we needed someone to drive our car off the ferry and park it somewhere in Haines until we got there 10 days later.

To our shock, we were charged over $630 just for this simple service. The exorbitant fee for merely driving our car off the ferry and parking it is absolutely unreasonable. The lack of transparency and the excessive charge felt like our we were being taken advantage of. Not only that, but the employee tried charging us for an extra day.

I would strongly recommend looking for alternative options and completely avoiding Big Foot Auto if you find yourself in a similar situation. The experience left a very bad taste, and I hope this review helps others steer clear of such predatory practices.

Came into town on a Saturday morning with a radiator fitting that was leaking coolant. Stopped at NAPA hoping they would be able to help me obtain a replacement part as this was a specific part to a Dodge 2500 Ram Diesel. They didn’t have the part in stock but the store in Juneau had it. They got it shipped over by Monday morning for very reasonable shipping price. As this was an emergency situation since we were traveling from out of state, I appreciated the parts counter man working to get us the part quickly. Can’t speak about the service dept as they were not able to help me with part replacement. I had to go to another facility in town to get the part installed.

I brought my 20K mile new truck for inspection at request of out of town buyer. Brian at Bigfoot called me thinking I was the buyer and explained that the truck had a bad vibration from wheels being out of balance and that he couldn't go over 40 without dramatic vibration. Wheels were balanced/rotated 1K miles ago at real tire shop in Anchorage and truck drove perfect so I brought it to Paul's repair in Haines for second opinion. They said balance was excellent, he went way past 40mph, and refused to balance the wheels because the truck drove so smooth. Bigfoot is known for making up problems but this was an exceptional example that led to buyer backing out a week before I move outta town. Their pay structure for mechanics is by the job and not hourly so mechanics make up work so they can feed their families. This business is a criminal enterprise. Stay away. Paul's Repair at 3rd and Dalton has an excellent reputation and is well respected by locals. Only reason Bigfoot is still in business is that lots of folks come through our town only once. The rest of us have learned our lesson many times over.

I don't know who said they were civil. The owner refused us service because my husband told him he was jacking up an RV in the wrong place. After having already paying for replacement tires and service, he looked my husband straight in the face and said he was closed and did not need to help him. My husband is both a mechanic and and engineer. He did not want our RV hurt like the previous one was. So now my 70 yrs old husband will be hurting his weak hip by fixing this himself. Thanks Bigfoot. Just because you are the only place in Haines to buy tires does not give you the right to treat people like this. GOD has a special place for you. Enjoy it.

DO NOT DO BUSINESS WITH THIS COMPANY!!! Taking time to write this review with the intention of saving someone a similar headache/terrible experience. Even the locals warned us after the fact. They did not diagnose our RV problem correctly and got stuck in Alaska for an extra 3 weeks! We had to diagnose the problem ourselves (with the help of our FB RV community) that NO BUS code meant ECM needed replacing. We called them after a couple of hours since we had the same issue to give them opportunity to correct what they should have fixed. We, however, had to order the part and fix it ourselves. We got charged for $700+ for labor alone for nothing (not including charges for towing and other parts replaced that had nothing to do with the NO BUS code)! Please do not waste your money and valuable time! You've been warned that this is not a reputable business! NAPA, you should not be associated with this kind of service to protect your brand.

Employees at Bigfoot Auto Inc. are polite and curtious, they handle themselves in a professional manner and will help any customer immediatley. Shop rates and estimates are reasonablely priced and the mechanics are very efficient in ther duties. Everyone at Bigfoot Auto, from the Cashier to the President of the company are eager to aid anyone who needs assistance. I am very satisfied with the work they do and recommend all I meet to go to Bigfoot Auto Inc. first, before going any other place in Haines.
