I love Trader Joe’s and I shop there frequently. My low rating is because the mini shopping carts for kids.
TJ’s really really really needs to get rid of the mini shopping carts for kids! They are a hazard!
The kids run wild with them and I have almost been tripped numerous times by child “shoppers.” When I complain, the TJ staff just tell me it’s the parent’s fault.
These mini carts are not safe, especially for senior citizen shoppers! The parents SHOULD watch their kids, but the fact is most DON’T.

We have complained about the mold in unopened bags of sliced Jarlsberg Lite cheese sold by Trader Joe's for several years now. The mold problem persists. The photos are from two bags purchased only three days ago, expiring in May 2025. Both had mold in the unopened bags. Both bags were just opened and the cheese was untouched. Trader Joe's, talk to your vendors about persistent, customer-reported food quality issues. We can't shop at TJ's any longer, since food safety issues are allowed to continue.

I am a huge Trader Joe's fan and have never had a bad experience until yesterday.
At the Santa Maria, CA store, I was approached by a young woman asking if she could help me. I asked her for mixed nuts, a simple request. She was snippy and accused me of being rude as she did NOT even know what mixed nuts were. A manager found them, and I approached her to show her the mixed nuts, and what they are. She was defensive and unapproachable unlike TJ's employees. It was all about "her" and the need to be right. All she had to say was, "I don't know, I'll get someone to help you". That would have been fine.
Then another manager actually came up to me, and accused me of "being unacceptable". I was floored! I intend to report this interaction to their corporate office. What the heck Trader Joes! Train your employees and manager better.

I am so thrilled with the customer service we get at TJ's in Commack, Long Island, and find it rather nifty in general that they have such a wide variety of 'different' products. HOORAY for everyone there, especially Amanda, Juliet, Scott and Jaida. Even though they do not feature many 'sweet' products that are sugar free (which would be nice for diabetics ...there exist many "safe" substitutes for sugar to sweeten food!) they get a 5 Star rating from me! PS... how about some sugar - free ice cream! ? 🙂

TJ stores in St Louis do not carry sesame seeds. Why not? Your refusal forces me to go to World Market, where of course I pick up any other necessities while I am there.

Saturday morning, I had a pretty negative experience with one of the cashiers at my local Trader Joe's in Claremont, California. I was at the register to buy food, and I needed to get to my wallet, so I had an Asian pair sitting on top of my wallet that I intended to give it to my Mom that morning. The cashier inquired if I wanted to pay for the fruit that I had in my purse. I am wondering why I would openly place a pear in my handbag rather than in the basket to be purchased. That question worried me tremendously. She mentioned that I appeared to be distracted while in line. Even while I may have been preoccupied while waiting my turn, I was not distracted enough to put an Asian pair that was not their brand in my purse and pull it out in front of her if I had no intention of purchasing it. I was embarrassed to be asked that question, and I felt ashamed as if I had been picked out. I was up set and asked for the manager, but she swiftly rang the bell as if she didn't want to deal with me and went away from the cash register. The manager came up and immediately defended the cashier. I understand why she asked this question but later apologized for her actions. She had no tolerance. She was quite short with me, and if I had been another type of customer, I am confident that this problem would not have occurred. For decades, I've been a frequent shopper at this store. When I think back on that incident, I feel embarrassed, singled out, humiliated, and disappointed, which is an understatement. I will not shop at that store again as a result of that incident, nor will I shop at any other Trader Joe's, which was one of my top three stores.
