Bought the Dreadnought D-Mad-Adi from the Acoustic Shoppe in Springfield Mo. a while ago. Bought it sight unseen and without playing it either. Had it shipped north of the border and I have to say it has blossomed into a great sounding and playing piece of art. It is a real treat to play and the Madagascar back and sides create a sound that is simply outstanding! The neck carve works perfectly for my hands. Many thanks to the very kind people at the Acoustic Shoppe who made this all possible. Th

Just WOW!
I am blessed to have gotten a beautiful new Thompson Dreadnought today! The tone, volume and resonance are exceptional. The setup is perfect. This guitar rings forever.
I am blessed to own several boutique maker guitars from names such as Santa Cruz and Kevin Ryan among others, but this one has raced to the top of my list!
Buy one if you can 😊

I wish I could multiply my 5 stars by a hundred. This wonderful, custom, hand-made guitar company literally does everything right. I was fortunate enough to purchase one of their "artist series" guitars, a very special dreadnaught designed by the wonderful Billy Strings.
I'll never forget the day I took it out of the case and played it for the first time. Suddenly, that sound that players dream about all of their lives was right in front of me. It was an instant, emotional and visceral connection to an instrument that was built by people who care deeply about what they do. Also, without naming names, in my humble opinion, they run circles around their competitors.
And a word about the people: I have dealt primarily with co-owner Christine Funk and she has been absolutely lovely with me. They have difficult jobs and deal with many people, yet Christine will work with you as if no one else exists. That is an unbelievably important quality because it instills great trust in the company.
Lastly, there are occasions where one may have to wait a bit for their instrument to be finished. Such is the case with all hand crafted instrument makers. This was my first experience buying such an incredible instrument, so it's very important to remember that the company is not taking time avoiding your instrument, what they are actually doing is making 100% sure that you receive an absolutely flawless, perfect instrument. Big difference! Can't say enough good things about them!

I was looking forward to checking out Thompson guitars during a vacation in Tumalo, but turns out it’s closed to visitors due to Covid-19. Totally fine and I do appreciate that, I’m sure I’ll leave 5 stars next time when I’ll hopefully get to play one of their fine instruments.

EDIT: I made it back the following day on my way back to Portland and as advised I called, Christine was close by and let me in right away. VERY informative visit, I also got to tour the shop and chat with some of the luthiers who were kind enough to reply to any of my questions.. plus I got to try two of the best guitars I’ve ever played, an OM and a 000-12 they had in the showroom. The only issue is that now I want both!

Thompson Guitars are hands down some of the best in the industry. Great tone and great craftsmanship. I'm honored to own one and take it on the road with me as my primary guitar when on tour.

Small artisan custom guitar shop with a small but friendly and informative staff. They had a few guitars out to play when I visited and a couple of the craftsmen discussed them with me. Their guitars range from $4k to around $15k they said.
