Terrible experience at the store today. Only one person at sales counter and he never acknowledged my presence. He was involved with a customer with a detailed order. After 20 minutes, the customer turned around and apologized for taking so long, but not the employee. I replied that it was not his fault but that I had a timing problem and needed to leave soon. Still no reaction from employee. I waited another 10 minutes and left. The employee never made eye contact or said anything to me in the 30 minutes I was there.

I ordered a closet shelve system from these folks. The salesman was very helpful but when the rails and brackets came in it didn’t come with the screws to attach the rails to the wall. I specifically asked for these when I placed the order. I contacted the salesman and he stated the rails didn’t come with the screws that they were sold separately. I told him I specifically requested screws so anyway I ordered ‘WHITE’ screws from him paid all the shipping and when the screws arrived they were standard nickel screws NOT WHITE! I emailed the salesman for a refund and after several emails and a lot of time I finally received the return ticket but the return ticket stated the product had to be shipped from a UPS store not a drop off. The closest one was 30 miles away so I took the screws to a UPS drop off and paid shipping back. To this day and over a month later I keep getting the run around about my refund they need this or that in order to process it. Now they have given me the number to a different person to call. This is not a lot of money only 40$ but this has been a mess from the start…I recommend finding another company to deal with because this one doesn’t have their stuff together.

UPDATE; I finally got in touch with the person that processes the returns and she initiated the return and the money is back in my account. Minus…the shipping I paid both ways so basically I lost about 20$ on the entire process.

Ordered hardware for our new house in August. Three mistakes made in the process of ordering what we purchased. Consistently had to reorder door knobs dead bolts. Here we are in mid-February and the work is still not finished. This company's attention to detail and customer service is ridiculous and sad.

Well - I bought something here and promptly returned it about 2 minutes later because we changed our minds right after I bought it (weird story).They were really nice and helpful, and didn’t seem annoyed by our flakey behavior. Will definitely look forward to checking out this place first for future projects.

HGH is a great resource for Birmingham trades people. Its not a big box experience. You have to know what your asking for. The staff is very helpful and knowledgeable about the products they sell. They have the best selection of knobs and pulls and have lots of hard to find items in stock. They also have a cabinet door company that is very good and fast. They save me 30-50% on most hardware items compared to the big box stores.

They are clients of mine but I do know the people there and they're some of best at what they do also have the nicest showrooms around if u can't find cabinet and drawer hardware there they don't make it lol
