The teacher and class are fantastic! The only thing is the clarity of the cost. You should be prepared to spend around $200+ when walking in the door. While sometimes a Groupon or other discount can make it slightly less, the general cost of items can be steep. However, the services they offer for the life of the plants (expected around 40 years!) is well worth the price paid for the class! It just can be a little tough if you aren’t expecting it. Overall, a phenomenal experience and worth the trip!

This was an incredible experience. I want to start off with the costs because this seemed to be a surprise to most people coming into the class. You do pay for the class, and the website says that $20 or $25 (I don't remember) of your admission cost will go towards a container. What it doesn't go over is how much the containers are. The vessels are quite expensive, so be prepared to spend some monies. Call ahead if you have questions about this, but keep in mind, this man is spending 3 hours with you, ensuring you have healthy and ethically sourced plants and moss to choose from, they he cares for when not in the class (duh), rocks and decorative items, and a lifetime warranty on your terrarium. He will explain this, don't worry. In short, it's well worth the money you will spend.
The fun stuff-
It's not just someone teaching you how to put plants in a jar and hope that they stay alive. Just like the website states, Gregg goes over the history of terrariums and how they have impacted all of us on more than aesthetic level. He explains how it all works and honestly gives you perspective on more than just what's in front of you. He has an interesting backstory on how he got started in this practice and really makes you feel at home and like there are no stupid questions. I urge folks to pay attention to what he has to say but also, just have a good time(:

It's a small room, but not uncomfortable. If you go in the summer or on a warm day, dress cool, this is a plant shop and for obvious reasons needs to keep on the warm side. There is a small AC, but unless you are right in front of it, you're gonna be warm.

Memories were made. Best of all we have a lasting momento that Silver Falls Terrariums will continue to maintain for us. Prices are $80-300+. Well worth the cost!

I took my daughter to Silver Falls Terrarium. This was the very first time for both of us making our own terrarium. Teresa was wonderful and explained things and a very educational fun way. She showed us an example of how to do it and then she just let us go right into making our own. It was a bit a challenging because the opening of our Mason jars wasn't very big so to put all the plants in there with these big long tweezers and long stick was very frustrating.Teresa was so encouraging, she helped me and my daughter too. I think they turned out pretty good. We are both happy with the results. FYI the classes are $60 each person, then you pay in addition for the glass you choose ranging between $25-$399. This includes the plants, dirt, rocks and everything that they have there to make own unique terrarium. I would highly recommend Silver Falls Terrarium

You pay $25 for the 'class' but when you arrive you learn that the glass jars you'll need to use cost $180 for the tiniest to over $300 for the larger ones. Similar jars sell on Amazon for $20. The class was pleasant enough but this felt like a scam. Very dishonest of the owner to not reveal those prices on the web site before you drive an hour to Silverton and are captive audience.

We made the most beautiful terrariums on our visit with friends. I took two of my kids aged 10 and 16 and they both were able to follow along and produce great work. Gary is great with instructions! Can't wait to go back.

WOW! I absolutely love terrariums and was so happy to find this place. Wonderful, knowledgeable and kind owner (Gregg) was nice enough to answer all my questions and educate me on the terrarium “spa” and the critters (even frogs!) that happily live in these balanced self-sustaining mini ecosystems - fascinating stuff! Really great shop worth the visit if you love terrariums. They even have pre-made ones if you don’t want to make your own. What a special little gem! So so sooo happy I found it. There are no terrarium shops where I’m from, so this was definitely a treat to visit and see!
