I spent two nights at the Grand Idyllwild Lodge from Friday to Sunday in January, and it was exactly what I needed for a peaceful getaway. As someone with a busy schedule of full time work, 3 dogs, and kids, I just wanted a place where I could truly be by myself in a quiet and nature-filled setting—and this lodge was perfect.

The location is incredible. You’re completely surrounded by nature, and the silence is amazing. I slept better than I ever do at home—the beds are comfortable, and the rooms are spacious and cozy. It’s truly a place to unwind and recharge.

Another great thing is that you don’t have to drive anywhere. Everything is within walking distance—I went on a hike, got some great food, and even walked to downtown Idyllwild to pick up souvenirs and gifts for my family.

If you’re looking for a quiet, nature-immersed retreat where you can relax, sleep well, and explore without stress, the Grand Idyllwild Lodge is the perfect choice. Highly recommend!

This lodge is in an ultra quiet area of Idyllwild and we found it to be the perfect retreat for a weekend away. The Serenity Suite is below the main floor and very quiet. The breakfast on the weekend is a set me up they serve once you sit down. Weekday breakfast is a continental self serve style. The rooms are very nice. The public spaces are beautiful. They have outside decks, a library, a hot tub, sauna and a gym. Judy, the concierge who helped us was very sweet and showed us everything we needed to know. There are no staff members around after 5 pm, but the morning team was very helpful and friendly. A perfect getaway spot in a perfect little mountain town!

Stayed here for two nights with my husband on our baby moon. The lodge is beautifully decorated and very cozy inside. The shared spaces outdoors and indoors are lovely and the rooms are big. Staff is very friendly. However, for the price I would have expected a bit more attention to detail. The breakfast is quite lackluster yet took a very long time to prepare. There’s not much else going on in the lodge at any point and staff can be difficult to find. After making up our room, our door was left completely open so that was kinda weird but hey mistakes happen. The lodge is well located between hiking trails and the main drag in town. One member was very helpful in getting us a second duvet for the bed so appreciate her 🙂 Thanks again!

The Lodge is mostly very nice. My wife has limited mobility, and the elevator was broken. She had to walk on a long ramp to get from 1st floor to the check-in on the second floor. And then up a number of stairs to our room on the 3rd floor. When coming back to the hotel after dinner, there was no lighting in the hallway on the 3rd floor. Fortunately, we had a flashlight with us to use. The hotel has many nice points, like a gas fireplace in the rooms. There's a gym and a putting green, and a hot tub available. There are several spots indoors and outdoors for small groups or a family to gather. Staff have a short working day, and a phone number is listed at the front desk if help is needed. The outside doors are locked at 5:00 PM, and you are given a key to use to lock them as you leave the building and for entry when you return.

Went to check in around 6:45 on a Wednesday evening with no reservation and there was 3 vehicles in the parking lot, I asked if they had a room and the person asked if I had a reservation I said, no, so he called the manager due do his lack of experience and I was told no reservation no room. They had plenty of of rooms available according to the person there. He had no clue what to do. Was a very weird interaction with him. How do you just let a paying customer walk away. We called silver pines lodge and got a very nice cabin for the night. Awesome place and cozy. Highly recommend Silver Pines Lodge

Very disappointing especially for the high price room compared to others. Our "Romance'' room had a single sink that would not drain, we asked the front desk 3 times if they could get someone to fix it, no response. We were asked twice if we wanted the room to be refreshed - never happened. The hall lights leading to our room were out and not working, the outside seating area cushions were soaked with water and the fireplace outside was inoperable. Our room was clearly not cleaned prior to our arrival. Sad that I have left 3 messages prior to writing this review with no response to discuss these issues.

Visited Idyllwild over the weekend and stayed at the Grand Idyllwild Lodge. Beautiful property with great service. Had a minor issue at check in and was immediately addressed. Shawn and Daniel were very attentive and helpful during our stay. Will definitely be back again!

Please beware before you stay at this location. It is advertised as a 5 star hotel but it’s more like a 2 star hotel. The pictures are very misleading. We booked through booking.com and were led to believe we were staying in a beautiful room with large windows. This was for New Year’s Eve and we spent over $800 for two nights to stay in a basement room that was one of the worst hotel experiences I’ve ever had. We heard footsteps above us constantly. The outdoor light fixtures glared directly in our room. We had no windows. It was like a dungeon of a room. The room was disgustingly dirty when we first walked in with food still in the fridge, hair on the bed, etc. Needless to say, we didn’t get any sleep in this room for the 2 nights we stayed and paid over $800! Austine was the manager in charge and she did have cleaning crew clean up the room for us and attempted to fix the other issues but was ultimately unsuccessful as the light and noise issue were still just as bad for the second night. They promised us a refund for the more expensive of the 2 nights but they failed to deliver on that as well - only giving us a refund for the cheaper night. I have never felt so ripped off in my entire life. We came to Idyllwild to decompress and have a few nights in the wilderness to bring in the new year. Instead, we left sleep deprived and been hounding down management for 3 weeks to deliver their promise for a refund which they have failed to do. I would never stay here again. There are much better options out there.
