Varsity bike shop will never do you wrong. Whenever a friend has a problem with their bike I always tell them just take it to varsity and they will either fix it right there for free in about 30 seconds or there is something really wrong with your bike and they will fix it for a cheap price. They are always super helpful with any questions you might have about your bike. You will never get ripped off. They know how to run a business. Thanks!

I bought two bikes from Varsity right before undergrads showed up. They helped me get a good bike: not too fancy, but the price was right. The BEST thing was that they asked me to bring the bikes back a month after purchase for a check-up. They tuned the bikes up AND installed some racks that I was having trouble figuring out myself--all for no charge. They're low-key but super nice people and I really appreciate their help!

TERRIBLE QUALITY CONTROL and CUSTOMER SERVICE. They sold me a defective bike with a horribly adjusted derailleur, which caused the rear derailleur to caught up in the spokes within two days after the purchase. They didn't even bother to check the bike before selling it for more than $440? The bike is $50 more expensive than if you are to just buy there bike directly from the manufacturer(retrospec), which includes free shipping, free return. What made the experience even worse is that they still asked me to pay for the full repair. If you are looking for a bike, i would recommend you to just buy it online or at a bigger retailer with some kind of quality guarantee.

Really high quality bike shop. The customer service is superb and the people there seem to really care about you. I was very indecisive about the color of my bike and they even let me trade it back in when I chose the wrong one. Not to mention that you can bring it back in within (or maybe just after) the first month and they'll give you a free tune-up.

Definitely the best bike shop in Isla Vista.

Dropped off a disc brake bike for brake adjustment.
The work took twice as long as expected and when I was contacted to pick the bike up, I found out they had forgotten to do the front brake.

The day after picking the bike up I was contacted because they "found" some parts on their workbench. They had returned the bike to me without the cotter pin that attaches the brake pads.

The brake adjustment was poorly done and some fasteners were loose.

Sloppy work that took double the promised time and required two trips back to the shop because they didn't put all the parts back on the bike.

Spend a few extra dollars and go to Bicycle Bob's.

Great place to go for repairs or to buy a new bike, especially if you're a student going to UCSB. I bought my bike here for an affordable price last summer, and I've been very happy with it. The owner is friendly and happy to keep the bikes he sells in good condition, providing any necessary repairs for little to no money. They also fill your tires for free if you need a little air.
