We had fun! Free to get in. Free WIFI!
There’s space to kayak, a swimming area roped off, fishing is good, several people camping (tents), and family friendly. The water is dark and murky —so didn’t swim. There’s sand in the swimming area and kids were having a ball. Bathrooms. Trails. Kayak kiosk. Cell reception is spotty. Great little State Park.

Shocked how nice it is. There's an artesian well spring right beside our camp grounds, spot #1, which is also next to this little lake. Kinda pricey, but nice. Very clean men's room with nice shower. Polite guests. Easy to collect firewood, at the first of April. I've camped in far worse places for the same money. There were two mounds of beaver dams (best guess) right beside our campsite!

Walked trail around lake. Fall weather, trail covered in leaves, some rocks, tree roots, may be treacherous for older walkers. 3 1/2 to 5 miles depending on trails taken.
Nice little lake, beach area for swimming and kayaking in warmer weather.

Woolly Hollow is a small but lovely state park that offers both RV/tent camping in its own section and also fun tent camping right along the lake. In addition to a gift shop, picnic area, boat launch and biking trails, they offer programs including guided hiking trails and a presentation on the actual Woolly Family cabin, restored but still containing a few family items. The park interpreter, Hannah, was outstanding! She did both my guided hike around the lake and the cabin tour. Hannah was friendly, knowledgeable, fun to be with, flexible with hiking at my pace, and eager to make my experience an enjoyable learning opportunity. From forest mgmt to local flora, she covered it all. We will be coming back in Autumn 2025. Can't wait to see what educational programming Hannah will be offering at that time. 🙂

Woolly Hollow State Park is a quick drive from Greenbrier, Arkansas and is based on a dam lake, Bennett Lake. This park has a somewhat secluded type of appeal offering a broad spectrum of amenities, such as hiking, biking, camping, picnic tables, snack bar, swimming, and more. Using the idiom, "just for kicks" might best describe the photo that includes a rather bewildering permanent "no swimming" sign next to the designated swimming area and "no picnicking" sign next to a picnic table. Sorry, this just couldn't be resisted! On a more serious note, you'll discover great hiking, easy access to the lake, plenty of room to move without crowds, clean restrooms, and a pristine Visitor Center. Of particular note, was the customer service received at the Visitor Center. We were treated as special, unique, and received trail direction that later saved us from getting lost...and we are experienced hikers. The woman we spoke with even went so far as to ask us to call if we got lost. In a word, IMPRESSIVE! The only drawback we found regarding the trails were the obvious lack of maps marking your actual location and proximity when you're on the trails at various points. As a result, it is fairly easy to get lost, so bring plenty of water, particularly at this time of year.

Beautiful day spent at Woolly Hollow. Definitely a great little spot not too far from Little Rock. The huckleberry trail that goes around the lake is the perfect distance.
